The attached hood provides additional UV protection for the head and neck without requiring a separate hat, making it particularly useful for high-sun-exposure activities like surf fishing, open-water kayaking, and prolonged backcountry outdoor use where cumulative UV exposure to the scalp and neck adds up through the day. Raglan sleeves eliminate the shoulder seam for improved range of arm motion during casting and active use.
